When are my shipped goods going to arrive?

  • Once you’ve decided to ship your goods, you’re inevitably going to worry about how long they’re going to take to arrive. The time it’ll take your goods to get from A to B will mostly depend on the method of shipping you use, as well as the company you use to transport your goods.

    The method matters

    By air

    Airfreight is usually the quickest method of shipment, taking about 10-12 days. If you’re in a rush to get something delivered, some companies offer a fast courier service that will ensure your goods are delivered within a few days. Unaccompanied airfreight is much more cost-effective than paying excess baggage costs if you only need to ship a few items.

    By sea

    Shipping goods by sea inevitably takes a bit longer. Transit time will be between 8-12 weeks. The advantage of this is that your belongings will share container space with other consignments bound for the same destination. This makes it an affordable method to transport larger possessions.

    By road

    This method is only really an option if you’re sending goods from the UK to a European destination. If this is the case, road trailer service is both fast and affordable. You can expect to wait 10-14 days for your belongings to arrive from the UK.

    Track your goods

    The best way to figure out how long your goods are going to take is to ensure that the company you use offers you the option to track your goods online. This will enable you to maintain peace of mind throughout the process, no matter which method of transportation you choose to use.

    Most companies will offer an easy-to-use online tracking tool that will allow you to check the location and status of your consignment at any time you wish to. You should also be able to check details such as vessel or flight names and numbers.
