Where are all the Australians around the world?

  • The 2011 Census reported that more than a quarter of Australia’s 22 million residents were born in a country other than Australia. Most of those flocking to the continent were born in New Zealand, the UK, India, China and South Africa. But what about Australians leaving the land Down Under – where do they go?

    It’s estimated that about one million Australians currently live outside of Australia. Around 40% of them live in the UK (no surprise there), but would it surprise you to learn that more than 100,000 Australians have settled in Greece or that Vietnam is home to a large number of Australians?
