London markets and fairs to visit this Christmas

It’s silly season again. Deck the halls and be jolly with all the festive finds you can source from these London-based Christmas markets and fairs.

1. Christmas Fair at Surrey Docks Farm

Spend the day at Surrey Docks Farm and shop for all sorts of farm crafts, produce and meat; have a bite at the Frizzante Café and let the kids enjoy donkey rides and plenty of other exciting activities.

2. The More London Christmas Market at The Scoop

Shop up a storm at a huge variety of gift and craft stalls –  including around 20 stalls by We Make London, where you can support the best of British designers and scoop up handmade designer gifts. Indulge in plenty of tasty treats, craft workshops and Christmas entertainment.

3. The Clapham Green and Ethical Christmas Fayre

Find all sorts of fantastic Christmas gifts, books, toys, clothes, accessories and jewellery, while the kids can hang out with Father Christmas.

4. Columbia Road Christmas Shopping Evenings

Date: Every Wednesday in December | Address: Columbia Road Flower Market, Columbia Road, E2 7RG

This is the place to be on Wednesday evenings, as the delightful shops of Columbia Road stay open late to offer Christmas shoppers everything from vintage fashion and trinkets to homeware and art, live entertainment and delicious eats.

5. Southbank Centre Christmas Market

Browse through Southbank Centre Christmas Market, where around 70 wooden chalet-style stalls have been set up beside the Thames and between Waterloo Bridge and the London Eye. Shop for toys, jewellery, ceramics, clothing and all sorts of crafts and trinkets, while sipping on Glühwein and relishing the flavours of everything from bratwurst to crêpes and candyfloss. This German market is a firm favourite and the kids will love the carousel. The Chocolate Festival also takes place here from the 7th to the 9th of December.

6. Creative Clerkenwell Christmas Pop-Up Shop

7. Camden Lock Christmas Night Markets

This year sees the 40th anniversary of Camden Lock, so expect a lot of twinkle, sparkle and Christmas cheer. Plenty of shopping on offer, as well as oodles of entertainment and a wide array of food stalls to keep your energy up.

8. Greenwich’s Special Christmas Market

Dates: 28 November – 28 December | Address: Greenwich Market

Avoid the high street hordes by heading south, where you will find arts, crafts and antiques, vintage clothes and original artwork and jewellery.

9. Hyde Park Winter Wonderland

Dates: 23 November – 6 January | Address: Hyde Park, London

Over and above the amazing attractions on offer, you can also shop till you drop at the picturesque Christmas markets and find delightful gifts for every member of your family. This year, there will be an additional yuletide market at the west end of the park, where you can pick up the most festive Christmas decorations.

10. Taste of Christmas Market

Probably the UK’s biggest Christmas food festival, boasting celebrity and Michelin-starred chefs like Michel Roux Jr, Jamie Oliver and The Baker Brothers. Enjoy the finest festive food from around the world and shop for all sorts of culinary treats and gifts.
