The 2nd of June this year marks 60 years since the Queen’s coronation on June 2nd in 1953. The occasion will be celebrated with a massive Diamond Jubilee event and an extra bank holiday.
The late May bank holiday will this year be moved to Monday the 4th of June, while Tuesday the 5th has been declared an additional Jubilee bank holiday. The extended bank holiday weekend will also apply to Scotland.
The festivities and events are currently being planned and promise to provide much entertainment and enjoyment for young and old alike.
Those who wish to host street parties and ensure they get in on the action, must obtain a street closure application form from their district council or from their council’s website, at least six weeks before the event.
