Celebrating freelancers

Today is the fifth National Freelancers Day, celebrating the great role that freelancers play within the economy. The day aims to bring together “business leaders, political heavyweights and independent professionals to reflect on the power of the freelance model.”

In a write-up about the day in The Telegraph, David Cameron said, “Our country owes a huge debt of gratitude to the thousands of men and women who make their living as freelancers and entrepreneurs. You have not only taken your own future into your own hands, but you are the engine of our economy and economic revival.”

Freelancers contribute £95bn to the UK economy every year. The option has become very popular for workers who don’t want to be tied down into long-term contracts.
