10 Music Events not to be Missed

London is always full of great musical events to choose from! To make it a little easier, we thought we’d round up the top ten events (in no particular order) to look out for over the coming months.

Madonna in Hyde Park

Date: 17 July 2012
Venue: Hyde Park

This is Her Madgesty’s only London date of her 2012 world tour and promises to deliver in true Madonna style. Tickets are expected to sell out fast, so if you’re a fan, act quickly!

The Camden Crawl

Date: 4 – 6 May 2012
Venue: Various venues

Barclaycard Wireless Festival

Date: 6 – 8 July 2012
Venue: Hyde Park

The Wireless Festival features Rihanna, and this will be her only UK performance in 2012, so if you’re a RiRi fan, don’t miss this one! Other acts include Calvin Harris, J Cole, Example, Professor Green and Labyrinth.

Hard Rock Calling

Date: 13 – 15 July 2012
Venue: Hyde park

Hampton Court Palace Festival

Date: 13 – 24 June 2012
Venue: Hampton Court Palace

Radio 1’s Hackney Weekend

Date: 23 – 24 June 2012
Venue: Hackney Marshes

Radio 1’s Hackney Weekend replaces Radio 1’s annual Big Weekend Festival and promises to be the biggest FREE CONCERT ever staged in the UK! It features six stages with more than 80 international artists, bands and DJs, including Florence + The Machine, The Ting Tings, Jack White, Will.i.am, David Guetta and DeadMau5!

South West Four on Clapham Common

Date: 25 – 26 August 2012
Venue: Clapham Common

Get to South London this August Bank Holiday for two days of dance music, including Carl Cox, Chase and Status, John Digweed and many more artists, as well as plenty of great stalls for all those festival essentials!

Einstein on the Beach

Date: 4 – 13 May 2012
Venue: Barbican Theatre

This is the first time Einstein on the Beach will be performed in the UK and the first time in 20 years that it will be performed at all, so if you have any interest in opera, don’t miss this exciting re-imagining of the traditional opera format!

BT River of Music

Date: 21 – 22 July 2012
Venue: Various stages along the Thames

A two-day Olympic celebration with six stages offering free concerts along the banks of the river Thames, starring musical talent from Olympic countries around the world, including Scissor Sisters, Baaba Maal and Angelique Kidjo. Each stage represents a different continent and features artists from that continent.

Lovebox Weekender

Date: 15 – 17 June 2012
Venue: Victoria Park

This fabulous Festival is celebrating its 10th year with no less than 10 stages offering everything from disco to funk to electro. You can also expect organic food, family events and a range of artists including Hot Chip, Holly Johnson, Magnetic Man, Friendly Fires and Kelis!
