We get asked so many questions by Australians looking to relocate to the UK: How do I open a bank account? What’s an NI number? How do I get my money from here to there? We designed our Kickstart packages specifically to help solve these problems, so you can get on with enjoying your UK adventure.

How do I apply for my National Insurance number?

Our Easy NINO service is cost effective and hassle free, and we can include it in your Classic Kickstart PackageThe benefit of letting us help you get your NI number is that we’ll make sure everything goes smoothly so that you don’t experience any delays.

As part of the Easy NINO service, we will phone the Department of Work and Pensions (DWP) on your behalf soon after you arrive in the UK. We’ll get the DWP to mail us all the necessary documentation for your application, which we will pass on to you. Once you’ve completed the formyou will send it to us for checking to avoid any issues with your application form before submitting. We’ll make sure that you get your NI number as soon as possible, without any extra stress.

How do I open a UK bank account?

UK banking institutions require you to go in for a face-to-face appointment to open your bank account. 1st Contact can arrange your bank appointment with one of two of the UK’s leading banks: Lloyds and HSBC. To ensure your account gets opened as soon as possible, we can arrange this appointment for you as soon as you arrive in the UK.

Please note: We are currently unable to assist with opening up UK bank accounts based in Scotland and Northern Ireland.
